Siren Soapbox Episode 27: The Beach House

On May 23, it was World Turtle Day! To "shell"-ebrate, the sirens read The Beach House by Mary Alice Monroe. This is a heartwarming story about a woman returning to her childhood beach house in Lowcountry, repairing her relationship with her mother, and becoming a “turtle lady” along the way. The sirens dive into the topic of sea turtle conservation.  To help us with our discussion, we have a very special guest! She is the New York Times best selling author of 27 books and has been the recipient of numerous awards. The Beach House has also been turned into a Hallmark Hall of Fame movie. She has been a conservationist for over 20 years, supporting many organizations and is a member of the Island Turtle Team. Her nickname is “South Carolina’s Queen of the Beach Read”. Can you guess our special guest?! Challenge of the week: Light one candle: Think globally, act locally! Tell us one thing you are doing to make a difference and check out Mary Alice Monroe's Facebook Group, "Light 1 Candle" #SirenSoapbox #DiveIn #StayCurious #BeHappy #DiveInStayCuriousBeHappy #TheBeachHouse #MaryAliceMonroe #Light1Candle #MakeADifference #ChallengeOfTheWeek #SeaTurtles #Turtle #WorldTurtleDay #Podbean #Spotify #Pandora #IHeartRadio
